WARD VILLAGE® WELCOMES POTLUCK HAWAII TO WARD CENTRE
New lifestyle concept by Selfmade Something founder opens April 12, offering curated gifts, goods and locally made ice cream

HONOLULU (April 10, 2025) – Ward Village®, the award-winning destination in the heart of Honolulu to live, shop, dine and explore, welcomes Potluck Hawaii, a new lifestyle concept created by Selfmade Something founder Krystal Abucayan. Opening Saturday, April 12 at Ward Centre, Potluck Hawaii offers a thoughtfully curated selection of design-forward gifts and everyday goods from local makers, AAPI-owned businesses, and indie brands around the world.
“Potluck Hawaii represents the kind of local businesses that have been able to grow and evolve at Ward Village,” said Taylor Herring, General Manager of Ward Village. “The environment here supports connection and steady activity, offering entrepreneurs a setting where they can grow and be part of daily life in the neighborhood.”
As described by founder Krystal Abucayan, Potluck is inspired by customers’ desire for a “grownup” version of Selfmade Something. The shop offers unique, design-forward products intended to spark joy, curiosity and nostalgia. The thoughtfully curated selection includes exclusive archival pieces from The Consistency Project’s rework collection—featuring handmade throw pillows, stool cushions, and mini bags crafted from vintage pants—as well as the eco-friendly FOTOFOTO reusable film camera.
Designed by Abucayan, the 665-square-foot space at Ward Centre reflects Potluck’s playful, creative spirit and will double as a venue for future pop-ups, small gatherings and open studio sessions. In collaboration with Please Come Again, the store will also offer pre-packaged ice cream cups, pints, and rotating novelties—including ice cream pops and “pup cups.”

“We created Potluck to feel like gathering at a friend’s home—warm, welcoming, and where everyone brings something good to the table,” said Krystal Abucayan, founder of Potluck Hawaii and Selfmade Something. “We’re excited to open our doors at Ward Village and offer a shopping experience that feels personal and fun. It’s given us the opportunity to reach a new audience and build on what we started with Selfmade Something.”
Potluck Hawaii’s grand opening celebration on April 12 will feature an exclusive pop-up by Please Come Again, serving two special ice cream flavors—Kakimochi Crisp and Japanese Strawberry Sorbet—from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests purchasing a scoop ($4.75 for keiki size) will be entered into a raffle for a curated basket of Potluck goods valued at over $200. The festive event also promises lively music provided by a live DJ.
Potluck Hawaii will operate Tuesday through Friday, tentatively from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

About Ward Village®
Ward Village is a 60-acre master planned community in the heart of Honolulu, located between downtown and Waikīkī. Honoring the distinct history of its land, Ward Village is at the forefront of sustainable community development—integrating striking architecture, culture and arts, and public open space. At full buildout, the community will include thousands of homes and approximately one million square feet of unique retail in what Architectural Digest named “Best Planned Community in the United States.” As a result of strong demand for new housing in urban Honolulu, Ward Village quickly sold out its first seven mixed-use residential towers—Waiea®, Anaha®, Ae‘o, Ke Kilohana®, ʻAʻaliʻi®, Kō‘ula®, and Victoria Place®—transforming the popular shopping and dining district into a thriving mixed-use neighborhood that offers ocean views and open space, including its newest outdoor gathering place, Victoria Ward Park. New residential buildings in development or under construction include Ulana Ward Village®, The Park Ward Village®, and Kalae. Most recently approved by the Hawai‘i Community Development Authority (HCDA), The Launiu Ward Village will be the latest mixed-use development that will join the neighborhood.
Ward Village, a LEED-ND Platinum-certified master planned community part of the Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. portfolio, demonstrates its commitment to responsible, mixed-use development by investing in public benefits and amenities for Honolulu’s urban community.
