Ward Village® Dining Scene Gets Sweeter with Addition of Happy Lemon

Popular global beverage chain specializing in boba teas, including the signature Rock Salt Cheese Tea, is opening in Ward Centre

HONOLULU Ward Village®, a one-of-a-kind destination to live, shop, dine and explore will welcome Happy Lemon to its growing neighborhood. A global beverage franchise originating in Taiwan, Happy Lemon will soon blend and serve boba tea, fresh fruit teas, juices, smoothies, fresh lemon slushies and sweet treats to residents and visitors at Ward Centre. The 1,250-square-foot flagship Hawaiʻi location will open on October 29, featuring a special buy one get one free offer on drink orders. Ward Centre will serve as Happy Lemon’s temporary location before the franchise transitions to a permanent storefront in Kōʻula.

“As our neighborhood evolves, we’re constantly looking for opportunities to bring value and interesting concepts to the community,” said Jeff Chen, Senior General Manager of Ward Village. “The addition of Happy Lemon further expands our dining offerings and allows us to introduce fresh and exciting flavors to Hawaiʻi.”

Inspired by the boba tea craze, Happy Lemon’s twist on the beloved classic is defined by its signature salted cheese base incorporated into its drinks, once reported by CNN as top drinks we can’t live without. The full menu will serve a variety of freshly brewed, rotating boba, fresh fruit teas, tropical flavored smoothies and slushies and perfectly crisp bubble waffles made in-house. All offerings from the boba shop will include fresh and handcrafted ingredients from their Happy Lemon fruit farm in Taiwan.

Happy Lemon’s menu will also include a selection of offerings exclusive to the Hawaiʻi location, including pineapple, passion fruit or strawberry lemon slushies with lychee jello, ube milkshake with pudding, fresh papaya milkshake and an ube flavored bubble waffle. The Ward Centre location will also be the first Happy Lemon franchise across the nation to offer ube soft serve and milk tea soft serve with boba toppings.

“Ward Village’s prime location in the heart of Honolulu makes it the perfect place for us to introduce our concept to the Hawaiʻi market,” said Jasmine Chin, Managing Member of Happy Lemon. “Creating meaningful relationships with our customers is one of our highest priorities, and we look forward to serving Hawaiʻi’s local and visiting boba connoisseurs.”

About Ward Village®
Ward Village is a 60-acre master-planned community by The Howard Hughes Corporation® in the heart of Honolulu, located between downtown and Waikīkī. Honoring the distinct history of its land, Ward Village is at the forefront of sustainable community development – integrating striking architecture, culture and arts, and public open space. At full build-out, the community will include approximately one million square feet of unique retail and thousands of homes, in what Architectural Digest named “Best Planned Community in the United States.”

As a result of strong demand for new housing in urban Honolulu, Ward Village is quickly approaching sellout of its first five mixed-use residential towers — Waiea®, Anaha®, Ae‘o®, Ke Kilohana®, and ʻAʻaliʻi® — transforming the popular shopping and dining district into a thriving urban neighborhood that offers ocean views and open space, including its newest outdoor gathering place, Victoria Ward Park. New residential buildings in development or under construction include Kō‘ula and Victoria Place. Since launching public sales in July 2021, The Park Ward Village has become the fastest-selling market tower in the history of Ward Village. Approved by the Hawaiʻi Community Development Authority (HCDA) in 2021, The Park Ward Village and Ulana Ward Village will be the newest mixed-use developments to join the neighborhood.

As a LEED-ND Platinum-certified master planned community, Ward Village demonstrates its commitment to responsible, mixed use development by investing in public benefits and amenities for Honolulu’s urban community. For more information, visit www.wardvillage.com.
