WARD VILLAGE® CELEBRATES TOPPING OFF OF ULANA WARD VILLAGE®

As Eighth Residential Development Brings 697 Reserved Homes to Honolulu, $40,000 Donation Supports DOE’s Career Connections Program

HONOLULU (Sept. 23, 2024) Ward Village®, the award-winning 60-acre master planned community in the heart of Honolulu, celebrated the topping off of Ulana Ward Village®, the neighborhood’s eighth residential tower. The Ulana development will add 697 reserved homes for kamaʻāina–bringing the community’s total number of reserved homes to over 1,200—with 100% of units presold to first-time homebuyers.

Ulana’s residences include studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom options, each featuring modern interiors and sweeping views of the ocean, mountains and city. Designed by AHL, InForm Design, Inc., and PBR Hawai‘i, the contemporary residences are complemented by experience-driven amenities, such as reservable indoor-outdoor gathering areas, a fitness center, expansive recreational lawn, barbeque cabanas and a dog park.

In celebration of the milestone, Ward Village and construction partner Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company (HDCC) donated $40,000 to support the State of Hawai‘i Department of Education’s (DOE) middle school Career Connections program, offered through partnership with the Hawaii Carpenters Apprenticeship and Training Fund.

“Ulana’s topping off of nearly seven hundred residences represents a major step forward as we continue to expand homeownership opportunities in Honolulu,” said Doug Johnstone, President of the Hawai'i Region for Howard Hughes. “Both Ward Village and Hawaiian Dredging share a desire to support the next generation of skilled workers who will shape Hawaiʻi’s future. We are honored to help develop future construction industry professionals through our gift to the DOE’s Career Connections program.”

The Career Connections program, already established in over 30 local high schools, provides students with essential skills for both career and personal development. The $30,000 from Ward Village and $10,000 from HDCC will expand the program to middle school students, focusing on building and construction skills and equipping them with the foundational skills needed for workforce success.

“This generous gift from Ward Village and Hawaiian Dredging will enable us to better equip our middle school students with the necessary foundational skills for our building and construction program,” said Heidi Armstrong, Deputy Superintendent, State of Hawai‘i Department of Education. “The skills learned aren’t only those needed to progress through the high school program and succeed in the industry workforce, but they’re also skills that will help any young professional thrive in their future careers.”
Ulana Ward Village celebrates its topping off with a commitment to Hawai‘i’s future workforce, supporting the DOE’s Career Connections program to develop skilled workers.

Later this year, Ward Village will open the expanded makai section of Victoria Ward Park. Concurrent with the opening of Ulana in late 2025, Ward Village will also open Ka Laʻi o Kukuluāeʻo Park. The new 30,000-square-foot public green space along the Auahi Street pedestrian promenade will feature open green areas, a keiki play area, and include a connection to the planned retail corridor on Ward Avenue. In total, eight acres of open public space and landscape improvements are planned for Ward Village, which also includes the widening of the walkable, tree-lined pedestrian promenade along Auahi Street and Ka Lei Park planned at the Diamond Head end of Ward Village. These open spaces and park expansions will enhance wellness, connectivity and culturally inspired placemaking, cornerstones of Ward Village’s vision for the neighborhood.

About Ward Village®

Ward Village is a 60-acre master planned community in the heart of Honolulu, located between downtown and Waikīkī. Honoring the distinct history of its land, Ward Village is at the forefront of sustainable community development—integrating striking architecture, culture and arts, and public open space. At full buildout, the community will include thousands of homes and approximately one million square feet of unique retail in what Architectural Digest named “Best Planned Community in the United States.” As a result of strong demand for new housing in urban Honolulu, Ward Village quickly sold out its first seven mixed-use residential towers—Waiea®, Anaha®, Ae‘o, Ke Kilohana®, ʻAʻaliʻi®, Kō‘ula®, and Victoria Place®—transforming the popular shopping and dining district into a thriving mixed-use neighborhood that offers ocean views and open space, including its newest outdoor gathering place, Victoria Ward Park. New residential buildings in development or under construction include Victoria Place, Ulana Ward Village®, The Park Ward Village®, and Kalae. Most recently approved by the Hawai‘i Community Development Authority (HCDA), The Launiu Ward Village will be the latest mixed-use development that will join the neighborhood.

Ward Village, a LEED-ND Platinum-certified master planned community part of the Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. portfolio, demonstrates its commitment to responsible, mixed-use development by investing in public benefits and amenities for Honolulu’s urban community.
