WARD VILLAGE® CELEBRATES OPENING OF VICTORIA PLACE®

Community’s seventh residence marks delivery of 350 new homes and expanded public spaces with $175,000 donation

HONOLULU (Nov. 4, 2024) –  Ward Village®, the award-winning 60-acre master planned community in the heart of Honolulu, hosted a blessing to celebrate the upcoming opening of Victoria Place®, the community’s seventh residence. Inspired by the rich history of its land and the project’s namesake, Victoria Ward, Victoria Place enhances the neighborhood with the addition of 350 one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, seamlessly integrated into its natural surroundings adjacent to Victoria Ward Park. The ceremony, led by Kumu Hina Wong-Kalu, celebrated this significant milestone in the evolution of Ward Village, Hawai‘i’s only LEED-ND Platinum-certified community, ahead of Victoria Place’s official opening on Nov. 6, 2024.

“Victoria Place represents a notable step forward in the progression of the Ward Village neighborhood,” said Doug Johnstone, President of the Hawai‘i region for Howard Hughes. “It reflects a unique blend of local inspiration with modern design that is thoughtfully integrated with a natural setting of public open space. We are thrilled to welcome our new residents and the building of community that continues to unfold.”

The $175,000 donation in coordination with Hawai‘i Community Foundation reflects Ward Village’s ongoing commitment to giving back at key development milestones to foster community collaboration and support organizations that create lasting change in Hawai‘i. Initial awardees include five local nonprofits—Aloha United Way’s ALICE Initiative, Hawai‘i Contemporary, Trees for Honolulu’s Future, Better Block Hawai‘i and the University of Hawai‘i’s Shidler College of Business Scholarship Fund—will each receive $25,000. Previous recognized community partners included Mālama Meals, Trees for Honolulu’s Future, and the General Contractors Association of Hawaii’s Construction Leadership Council and Pacific Resource Partnership’s Executive Leadership Series Program.

Victoria Place launched sales in 2020 and achieved outstanding sales velocity and sellout, supporting major construction activity on Oʻahu during uncertain times and contributing to Ward Village’s ongoing investment in Honolulu. The project created an average of 1,000 jobs annually, and workers earned more than $250 million throughout the development process. In addition to the $770 million in real GDP that the project generated, the addition of $50 million in state tax revenue helped support critical public services and infrastructure improvements.

About Ward Village®

Ward Village is a 60-acre master planned community in the heart of Honolulu, located between downtown and Waikīkī. Honoring the distinct history of its land, Ward Village is at the forefront of sustainable community development—integrating striking architecture, culture and arts, and public open space. At full buildout, the community will include thousands of homes and approximately one million square feet of unique retail in what Architectural Digest named “Best Planned Community in the United States.” As a result of strong demand for new housing in urban Honolulu, Ward Village quickly sold out its first seven mixed-use residential towers—Waiea®, Anaha®, Ae‘o, Ke Kilohana®, ʻAʻaliʻi®, Kō‘ula®, and Victoria Place®—transforming the popular shopping and dining district into a thriving mixed-use neighborhood that offers ocean views and open space, including its newest outdoor gathering place, Victoria Ward Park. New residential buildings in development or under construction include Ulana Ward Village®, The Park Ward Village®, and Kalae. Most recently approved by the Hawai‘i Community Development Authority (HCDA), The Launiu Ward Village will be the latest mixed-use development that will join the neighborhood.
