WARD VILLAGE WELCOMES YIREH & MAHINA MADE IN NEW POP-UP
Local female founders collaborate for a fashionable cause this holiday season
HONOLULU, HI (October 5, 2023) – Two locally owned, female-founded brands, Yireh and Mahina Made, are joining forces to inspire a transformation in the fashion industry at Ward VillageⓇ, the award-winning destination to live, shop, dine, and explore. Starting Saturday, Oct. 7, the three-month pop-up will fill its 596 square-foot space with lifestyle products, women’s clothing and more.
“The strength of Ward Village comes from the collaborative spirit of our community partners,” said Taylor Herring, General Manager of Ward Village. “Yireh and Mahina Made’s pop-up celebrates local talent while inspiring inclusivity, which are hallmarks of our neighborhood.”
Established in 2014, Yireh is dedicated to reimagining beauty and clothing through slow fashion practices by creating exclusive prints and small-batch collections. The brand partners with a WRAP ethically certified factory, ensuring that every inch of fabric is used, with excess donated to local micro-businesses. The company strives to celebrate women’s unique strength and beauty, emphasizing that clothing should enhance individuality, not overshadow it.
“You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your values for fashion,” said Emily Jamie, Founder of Yireh. “Working alongside other entrepreneurs at Ward Village who share our mission is inspiring and provides our community with more opportunities to make sustainable shopping choices.”
Mahina Made, founded in 2017, aims to bridge authentic Hawaiian culture with modern fashion. Inspired by the desire to normalize Hawaiian culture in daily life, Mahina Made serves as a catalyst for cultural preservation and education. Beyond culture, Mahina Made’s core values encompass ethics and sustainability, advocating for slow fashion through sustainable practices and an unwavering commitment to aloha ʻāina, the love for the land, deeply integrated into their business. Mahina Made designs its products in Hawaiʻi, including its beloved lei tees.
“Culture lives on when we incorporate it into our daily lives,” said Kailee Freitas, Founder and CEO of Mahina Made. “Ward Village is a hub for local makers, and we’re excited to join the community and bring our products directly to shoppers in Honolulu.”
Located in the former Mahina space at South Shore Market, the joint pop-up will host its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 7, with daily operating hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event will include the launch of an exclusive pā‘ū o Hi‘iaka collection inspired by the Native Hawaiian flower and giveaways for shoppers.
