THE PARK WARD VILLAGE CELEBRATES TOPPING-OFF MILESTONE

Highest structural beam placed on new residential development in Ward Village; $30,000 commemorative gift supports future careers in Hawai‘i’s construction industry

HONOLULU (March 17, 2025) – On Friday, Ward Village®, the award-winning 60-acre master-planned community in Honolulu, lifted the final steel beam into place on The Park Ward Village, its residential development adjacent to the new Victoria Ward Park, slated to open in mid-2026. Once completed, The Park Ward Village offers 545 new studio, one-, two- or three-bedroom homes in an urban island environment integrated with ground floor retail and featuring ocean and park views of Ward Village’s 3.5-acre Victoria Ward Park, which opened its makai phase last month.

“Our topping-off milestone brings us one step closer to welcoming new homeowners to The Park Ward Village, a project that uniquely blends progressive urban design with an incredible scale of open, green space,” said Doug Johnstone, President of the Hawai‘i region for Howard Hughes. “Each milestone in Ward Village is a reflection of the many professional trades who help bring it to life, which is why we celebrate these achievements with a gift to support the construction industry.”

As with previous topping-off milestones, Ward Village pledged a charitable contribution to support workforce development and training opportunities for Hawaiʻi’s youth. In recognition of the professionals shaping the state’s construction industry, Ward Village is donating $30,000 to be divided equally between the Hawai‘i Laborers & Employers Cooperation and Education Trust and Professional Women in Building Hawai‘i Council, a program of BIA Hawai‘i. These funds will help advance training, mentorship, and career opportunities for local construction professionals.

“Providing opportunities for women to lead and succeed in Hawai‘i’s construction industry strengthens our local workforce,” said Hinano Nahinu, Immediate Past-President of BIA-Hawaiʻi 2025 and Hawaiʻi Delegate for the (NAHB) National Association of Home Builders. “Ward Village’s generous support will help us expand programs that offer mentorship and leadership development, creating more pathways for women to build rewarding careers as construction professionals.”

In addition to its innovative design bringing green space closer to homes, The Park Ward Village takes inspiration from Hawai‘i’s midcentury modern architecture. Designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz, with interiors by Yabu Pushelberg and landscape design by Vita Planning and Landscape Design, The Park Ward Village residents will have access to an amenity deck featuring resort-style pools, pickleball and tennis courts, barbecue cabanas and landscaped spaces for relaxation and recreation. The building will also introduce more than 30,000 square feet of new retail and dining options while enhancing the pedestrian-friendly streetscape that defines Ward Village.

Most notably, The Park Ward Village overlooks the community’s anticipated first SITES-certified park, reflecting a comprehensive framework for designing, developing, and managing sustainable and resilient landscapes and outdoor spaces. Victoria Ward Park Makai, the first 1.4-acre phase of the park, which opened in February, features native plants that reduce irrigation needs, promote biodiversity, and help cool the urban environment. Victoria Ward Park Makai is part of Ward Village’s broader master plan to create a sustainable, connected community. Recognized as a LEED Neighborhood Development Platinum Certified (LEED-ND) community, Ward Village continues to achieve significant milestones in responsible urban design, including its recent LEED Gold certification for Kō‘ula residences.

Demand for homes in Ward Village is evidenced by the near sellout of The Park Ward Village, as announced in Howard Hughes’ fourth-quarter earnings report which showed the new residence is already 97% pre-sold as of the end of 2024.
