SWEAT + SOUL OPENS IN WARD VILLAGE®
Locally founded barre studio offers small group fitness classes for all levels
HONOLULU (July 24, 2024) — Ward Village®, the award-winning destination in the heart of Honolulu to live, shop, dine, and explore, welcomes Honolulu’s only locally-founded barre fitness studio, Sweat + Soul, with the opening of its newest location at Ward Centre. Sweat + Soul at Ward Centre will host its soft opening on July 25, 2024, followed by a grand opening celebration from Aug. 17 to 18, 2024.
“The Ward Village community values health and wellness,” said Taylor Herring, General Manager of Ward Village. “Sweat + Soul blends energetic workouts with personalized attention, bringing an innovative fitness experience that we’re confident will be a popular and successful addition to Ward Village.”
Founder and owner of Sweat + Soul, Melissa Rota of Hawai‘i Kai, believes in the power of intelligent workouts to enhance physical and mental well-being. Classes held at her new 742-square-foot studio, designed by Rota herself and built by Ion Builders, deliver full body conditioning to improve movement, appearance, and vitality.
Sweat + Soul’s signature barre class focuses on functional strength and stability without stressing joints. Other classes include cardio + barre and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) + barre, combining challenging sequences with mindful exercise. Dedicated to inclusivity, Sweat + Soul ensures personalized attention with small class sizes, accommodating diverse fitness levels and fostering a supportive environment.
“As a small business owner, you want your clients to be excited about coming to your location,” said Rota. “Sweat + Soul at Ward Centre was ideal for our newest studio both because of convenient parking and the priority people place on an active lifestyle at Ward Village.”
During their grand opening weekend, Sweat + Soul invites the community to join a free 30-minute mini-class with refreshments and giveaways. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet Sweat + Soul instructors and take advantage of limited special membership promotions.
Sweat + Soul at Ward Centre will tentatively host classes between the following times:
- Weekdays (Monday - Friday): 7:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
- Weekends (Saturday - Sunday): 7:15 to 11 a.m.

About Ward Village®
Ward Village is a 60-acre master planned community in the heart of Honolulu, located between downtown and Waikīkī. Honoring the distinct history of its land, Ward Village is at the forefront of sustainable community development—integrating striking architecture, culture and arts, and public open space. At full buildout, the community will include thousands of homes and approximately one million square feet of unique retail in what Architectural Digest named “Best Planned Community in the United States.” As a result of strong demand for new housing in urban Honolulu, Ward Village quickly sold out its first seven mixed-use residential towers—Waiea®, Anaha®, Ae‘o, Ke Kilohana®, ʻAʻaliʻi®, Kō‘ula®, and Victoria Place®—transforming the popular shopping and dining district into a thriving mixed-use neighborhood that offers ocean views and open space, including its newest outdoor gathering place, Victoria Ward Park. New residential buildings in development or under construction include Victoria Place, Ulana Ward Village®, The Park Ward Village®, and Kalae. Most recently approved by the Hawai‘i Community Development Authority (HCDA), The Launiu Ward Village will be the latest mixed-use development that will join the neighborhood.
Ward Village, a LEED-ND Platinum-certified master planned community part of the Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. portfolio, demonstrates its commitment to responsible, mixed-use development by investing in public benefits and amenities for Honolulu’s urban community.
