JULES AND GEM HAWAI‘I OPENS FIRST RETAIL LOCATION AT SOUTH SHORE MARKET

Locally crafted fragrance brand brings Hawai‘i-inspired wellness and relaxation products to Ward Village®

HONOLULU (July 24, 2025)Ward Village®, the award-winning destination in the heart of Honolulu to live, shop, dine and explore, welcomes Jules and Gem Hawai‘i to South Shore Market. Known for its hand-poured candles and thoughtfully crafted fragrances, the Hawai‘i lifestyle brand will celebrate the grand opening of its first brick-and-mortar location on Saturday, July 26, with a special gift-with-purchase promotion while supplies last.

Jules and Gem Hawai‘i’s new storefront at South Shore Market highlights the brand’s emphasis on local craftsmanship with candles, fragrances and self-care goods made in Hawai‘i
“Jules and Gem Hawai‘i adds a new layer of discovery to South Shore Market, creating a space where people can pause and reconnect with themselves through scent and self-care,” said Taylor Herring, General Manager of Ward Village. “As a Mana Up alum, they reflect the kind of entrepreneurial growth we’re proud to support at Ward Village, one that celebrates local talent and enhances our neighborhood experience.”

The 487-square-foot store, designed by owner Lana Gronwald, offers a curated selection of fragrances available in a variety of bath, body, and home products, all made in small batches by a Honolulu-based team. Known for its best-selling perfume rollers and car fresheners, the brand’s top-selling scents include Pikake and Puakenikeni. Exclusive to the South Shore Market location are seasonal offerings like Plumeria, Lychee, and Mango Coconut, as well as new product lines including sugar scrubs and soap refills.

Since its founding in 2017, Jules and Gem Hawai‘i has expanded into e-commerce and wholesale and now opens its first physical store at South Shore Market.
“Opening at Ward Village feels like a natural next step for our brand,” said Gronwald. “It’s a welcoming, family friendly neighborhood that supports small businesses and offers an environment where we can connect with both longtime customers and new faces. We’re grateful to now have a space where people can experience our fragrances in person and explore wellness through a sensory experience.”

Founded in 2017, Jules and Gem Hawai‘i was born from Gronwald’s desire to craft authentic scents that spark memory and comfort. Since its beginnings as a small candle-making project, the company has expanded into e-commerce, wholesale partnerships, and fragrance collaborations with leading resorts across the state. With this new storefront, Jules and Gem Hawai‘i continues its growth while furthering Hawai‘i’s local economy by employing a team of 12 and supporting its broader vision to launch new offerings, including a men’s fragrance line under its Saltwood Hawai‘i brand.

Located in the former Pulau Swimwear space, Jules and Gem Hawai‘i is currently open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
